KSU KPT Reviews Operations and Capabilities of University Veterinary Hospital

SERDANG, 27 August – The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), received an official visit from the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Yang Berbahagia Datuk Ts. Dr. Haji Aminuddin bin Hassim, on 24 August 2026. The visit was also attended by the Vice-Chancellor of UPM, the Director of the UPM Development Office and Asset Management (PPPA), as well as the MOHE delegation.

 

The official visit aimed to review FPV’s operations and gain an understanding of its functions and role in supporting UPM’s excellence, particularly in the field of veterinary medicine. The delegation also had the opportunity to explore the capabilities, facilities and potential for strengthening the University Veterinary Hospital (UVH), FPV, to better understand its strategic role in the delivery of veterinary services to the nation.

 

Throughout the visit, the delegation received a strategic briefing on the achievements, capabilities and potential for strengthening FPV and UVH. The session also provided an overview of the integrated operating model encompassing professional education and talent development, research and innovation, as well as the delivery of professional services to the community and stakeholders in veterinary medicine and public health.

 

According to the Deputy Dean of Hospital, Prof. Dr. Mohd Hezmee Mohd Noor, UVH is a strategic national asset that plays an important role in safeguarding animal and public health through the provision of advanced veterinary services, specialist referral services, disease diagnosis, clinical training, research and expertise based on the One Health approach on an ongoing basis for the benefit of the nation and society.

 

Overall, the visit reflected the strategic importance of FPV and UVH in supporting education, research and the delivery of veterinary services to the nation. The visit is expected to strengthen understanding and strategic support for the development of FPV and UVH, while further empowering the institutions’ roles in contributing to the university, industry, government and society in the future.

 

The hospital's operational workflow was presented to the delegation.

 

The diagnostic imaging facilities were introduced.

 

Discussions focused on best practices in veterinary hospital operations.
